About me

dafferianto.jpgMy name is Yohanes Baptista Dafferianto Trinugroho. I am used to be called Daffe, Dave, Ucok, Ulong, and some other short callings depending on which community groups the callers used to know me.

I was born in Rangoon on the 5th of November 1984, and in 1988 I moved to Prague with my parents and grew up there. It was not until the year 2000 when I finally spent my life living in my home country, the beloved INDONESIA, where I spent most of my time in the historical city Yogyakarta.

My formal academic life started in 1989 at the elementary school Sekolah Indonesia Praha when I was just 4.5 years old, and continued to junior and senior high school at the same school until the year 2000. My parents moved back to Indonesia in 2000 and I moved along with them, and continued my 3rd year of senior high school at the SMUK Sang Timur Yogyakarta high school. In 2001 I continued my study at the Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta majoring in Physics, and in 2002 I managed to take the Computer Science major. I graduated from the Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta on 19th of October 2006, and continued to my graduate study at the Magister Ilmu Komputer programme at the same university. But I felt quite uncomfortable studying there and managed to quit. Now I am enrolled for my graduate study with the Erasmus Mundus scholarship funded by the European Commission in the EuMI-European Master in Informatics programme where RWTH Aachen University, Germany and University of Trento, Italy are the main and partner universities respectively.

I used to work as a lab-work assistant at the Gadjah Mada University and Sanata Dharma University Yogyakarta during my study at the Gadjah Mada University (it was at the end of 2004), and I signed an internship contract as well with PT. Pasifik Satelit Nusantara PoP Yogyakarta early in 2005, and at the beginning of 2007 I formally worked for PT. Pasifik Satelit Nusantara PoP Yogyakarta as a Network Operation Center (NOC) engineer until July 2007.

This blog is intended to be used only for personal use (not for business purposes), and contains contents about my life-activities, my views, and anything that I feel like to write down.

    I’m sorry but I don’t really have the details & up-to-date information about the Erasmus Mundus scholarship, so in my opinion it’s best for you to visit the webpage.     First of all, congratulations for being granted an Erasmus Mundus scholarship! I’m sure you’ll enjoy travelling around Europe very much :-) BTW, in which programme are you in?
    It’s not a matter to me which nationality you are, but please don’t talk about politics ya :-D
    Actually I’ve just moved to Trento Italy and yesterday met a girl from Malaysia as well at the same programme as mine. But today she moved to Aachen Germany.

    Mo nanya dong soal Erasmus Mundus, saya baru dapet info kalo saya diterima untuk EU4M (Mekatronik/Mikromekatronik). Kepingin tau aja, mekanisme pengucuran dana-nya gimana? Kita dikasih uang untuk beli tiket dan biaya hidup sementara untuk prepare saat2 awal kita di sana atau baru dikasih duit saat kita buka rekening di eropa??

    Terus terang sih saya agak bingung juga karena kalo beli tiket aja sih duit bisa dicari pinjeman, tapi kalo untuk biaya hidup apalagi kalo sampe 1 bulan baru ada transferan, waduh.. gimana ya?

    Selamat ya diterima di program EU4M. Kalo ga salah itu program baru buka thn ini ya?
    Untuk mekanisme pengucuran dana, semua kebijakan ada di masing2 konsorsium. Tiap konsorsium beda2 mekanismenya. Untuk programku (EuMI) di Aachen/Bonn, installment pertama akhir Oktober & waktu itu aku dateng awal September. So selama 1.5 bulan biaya sendiri dulu.
    Saranku sih ditanya ke koordinator konsorsium (officernya yg email pengumuman juga bisa) ttg hal ini bir lebih jelas.
    Semester pertama di mana? Karlsruhe kah?

    Tahun pertama di Besancon, Perancis. Tahun kedua baru pindah ke Karlsruhe.. Terus terang sih aku agak sedikit gentar karena program ini kuliah bukan dengan bahasa Inggris, tapi masing2 dengan bahasa lokalnya. Soalnya situasi di kelas waktu les kan pasti beda banget dengan situasi kuliah.. Udah niat pake recorder sih di kelas, supaya bisa diulang2 dengerin sambil belajar..

    Oya, dulu berangkat pake maskapai apa? Aku udah sempet cari2, kayaknya yang paling murah Etihad Airways yah – lebih murah daripada Malaysian. Sayang Garuda enggak terbang ke Eropa.

    Lalu gimana sih persiapan cari tempat tinggal dari Indonesia? Bisa nggak kita cari dari sini trus kita transfer duit untuk booking supaya pada saat kita dateng di sana kita tinggal masuk flat/asrama? Ada advice gak?

    Wah, kayaknya bakal banyak nih pertanyaan.. Thanks yah.

    Aku cek di programnya emang serem juga ya pake bahasa setempat. Tapi kalau udah di-accept sama konsorsium, pastinya lancar lah (mereka pasti udah assess semua data2 toh?). Malah nanti lebih asik bisa fasih 2 bahasa tambahan.
    Aku dulu berangkat pakai Lufthansa (last minute sih belinya, jadi harga2 hampir2 sama semua maskapai).
    Kalau di Besancon kurang tau ya gimana prosedurnya. Kalau di Bonn kami dituntun per email untuk prosedur apply ke Studentenwerk. Jadi pasti dapet. Di Trento lebih enak lagi, semua proses mereka yg kerjain. Dateng tinggal ambil kunci terus masuk flat.
    Advice apa ya? Mungkin email advisor utk prosedur housingnya.
    Oya, email-ku ada di beberapa posting sebelum ini. Kalau ada pertanyaan bisa via email (moga2 bisa jawab). Jangan lupa gabung di milis indoem (forumnya mhs2 EM asal Indonesia). Kayaknya banyak yg studi di Perancis.

    Wow, that’s a lot of names!

    I’m hoping you may be able to put me in touch with Luca Valenzin.

    I was friends with a Luca Valenzin in Seattle Washington USA in the mid-late 1980’s. We also did some architectural and construction projects together. So maybe you know the same person? It would be great to hear from him as I lost track after he moved to NYC years later.
